Spirit of the Andes

Where the mountains remember.

A side-scrolling world rooted in Chilean myth — pixel-art parallax, living spirits, and a creative force called the Pulse that cracked centuries ago and is still cracking.

A passing band of monsters from across the regions.

An ancient stone altar, carved by the people who built the amplifiers
The Breaking

A tragedy, not a war.

The old people built the amplifiers out of care — they wanted their settlements to grow, their gardens to flower, their dead to be remembered. The Pulse answered.

It answered too well. Centuries of feedback fractured the resonance, and what they had imprisoned beneath the mountains turned over in its sleep. There are no villains here. Only impossible choices and the long quiet sound of their consequences.

The Pulse

A heartbeat under the stone.

The Pulse is a creative force that flows through the mountains — it animates inert matter, kindles the spirits in the trees, and stitches the dead back into the wind. Where it runs clean, the world remembers itself.

Where it cracks, the world forgets. Crystal grows in shapes it should not. Guardians lose their names. The line between protector and threat blurs, and an Outrider you knew last season may not know you this one.

The Tone Gradient

Five regions. One long fall.

Every region in Spirit of the Andes belongs to a single emotional register — and the world steps darker, region by region, as you travel south. This is not a difficulty curve. It is the moral arc made spatial.

  1. Northern Heights — Whimsical
    01 Whimsical
    Northern Heights

Safe exploration. No moral weight, yet.

  2. Crystal Spine — Ominous
    02 Ominous
    Crystal Spine

    Real stakes. Beauty becomes threat.

  3. Central Basin — Watchful
    03 Watchful
    Central Basin

Guilt and recognition. The creatures have history.

  4. Southern Frontier — Dreadful
    04 Dreadful
    Southern Frontier

    Funerals, not battles. Grief-weighted encounters.

  5. Frontier’s End — Apocalyptic
    05 Apocalyptic
    Frontier’s End

    The question, not the answer.

The Four

Four ways into the world.

Choose a base class. Survive long enough, and the world chooses one of two paths back. Each road forks once — and the fork is permanent.

Select a class

Wrangler

Agile melee · control · Boleadora & Machete
Huaso — cowboy, rider, drover, the land

A control-first, burst-second melee-ranged hybrid. Their skills are designed around a setup-execute rhythm: slow the target at range, close the gap, bind, then strike.

Boleada
Boleada
Lazo
Lazo
Corte
Corte

You start at a working ranch in the Northern Heights, learning the rope before the fight. The Master Huaso does not teach skills — he tests whether you can read an animal and stay calm. Earn his trust and the world opens west, toward the wild passes where the boleadora was made.

Outrider
Agile melee DPS — speed, crit, hit-and-run

Mounted cavalry, Chilean rodeo culture, rides ahead.

“This one has chosen you. When you’re ready, you’ll ride together.”
Harvester
Party-support DPS — vendimia-themed earth cycle

Tends the vineyard and the land — vendimia, vine, earth cycle. Lifts allies through the harvest; in a party they are the pulse of the circle.

“The earth knows you now. It will answer. The vineyard welcomes you — this is your circle.”

Prospector

Heavy ranged DPS · Pickaxe & Blasting Charges
Pirquinero — small-scale miner, underground

An exploitation-first heavy ranged DPS. Their loop is about marking a target to amplify all incoming damage, then obliterating it with heavy explosive and pickaxe hits.

Picazo
Picazo
Blasting Charge
Blasting Charge
Cantera's Call
Cantera's Call

You walk into a working mine and the Head Pirquinero hands you a torch and a question: bring back a sample from the upper shaft. He doesn’t care about your form. He cares whether the rock will tell you what it’s hiding. The deep, when it shows itself, only does that for some.

Blaster
AoE heavy ranged DPS

Explosives specialist, demolitions, destruction at range.

“Primer Cartucho — the first one. The one that started it.”
Delver
Melee burst DPS — short range, high impact

Digs deep, close-range tools and pickaxe, melee burst.

“The deep showed itself to you. Not everyone it does that for.”

Calero

Dark support · debuffer · Spectral Cutlass
One bound to the Caleuche ghost ship

A debilitation-and-cost fighter. They weaken enemies before striking, and their most powerful tool extracts HP from the Calero themselves to pay. Spending life for power is the class’s identity, not its weakness.

Luz del Caleuche
Luz del Caleuche
Compromiso
Compromiso
Marca del Náufrago
Marca del Náufrago

A survivor of the Caleuche meets you at the dock and asks you to read the tide. Get the hour right and the ghost ship surfaces. Step aboard and the crew — long dead, still working — decides whether you stay. Most don’t. The pact, when it forms, takes a thing you cannot get back.

Ferryman
Summoner · party buffer

Carries the dead across — commands the ghost crew of the Caleuche.

“They’re not leaving. They’ve decided.”
Dreadsworn
Curse · debuff · dark damage

Has fully embraced the dark cost of the pact.

“You understand now what the pact is. The sea takes everything. You gave it.”

Hexer

Spirit caster · flex · Rewe Staff
Brujo — spirit worker, communicant with the unseen

A spirit-marking, elemental pressure caster. They deal the only inherently magical damage in the roster — communicated through the spirit world rather than physical force.

Rewe
Rewe
Secamiento
Secamiento
Raigón
Raigón

A Machi elder waits for you in a mountain refuge and points to a grove. There is a sign there. If you can read it, the rewe is yours. The spirits do not give names easily — and once they know yours, they always know.

Spiritweaver
Healer · sustain support

Weaves healing through plant spirits and ritual.

“You were seen. The spirits know your name now.”
Hexbinder
Dark summoner · sacrifice DPS

Binds dark spirits, sacrifice mechanics, summons through shadow.

“You are Kalku now. The world will know it.”
Field Notes

Some of the things in the dark.

Four creatures, drawn from four different stretches of the world. Each one has a name in the language of the place it came from — and a reason it is the way it is. These sprites are running the same idle animation the live client uses.

Copihue Espina

Lv 10
Copihue · Plant Spirits · Northern Heights
Whimsical · prickly

A walking thicket the size of a child, ringed in red copihue blossoms. Looks soft. Isn’t. The thorns remember every careless boot that ever crushed one of its kin.

Camahueto Cristal

Lv 44
Camahueto · Crystal Beasts · Crystal Spine
Ominous · luminous

The unicorn-bull of the high passes — horn grown into raw quartz. It does not charge unless you stand between it and the Pulse vein it is feeding from.

Magma Cherufe

Lv 66
Cherufe · Volcanic Pillán · Southern Frontier
Dreadful · molten

Cooling magma given will. The body is the broken hand of something larger that used to gardener the volcano. Grief, in slag form.

Wekufe Kalku

Lv 68
Wekufe · Bound Dark Spirits · Frontier’s End
Apocalyptic

A binder of dark spirits that learned to bind itself. The Kalku is what a sorcerer becomes when the contract collects. Speaks in the voices of everyone it has consumed.

From the Pack

Things you’ll carry, things you’ll cook.

Hover any item for the in-game tooltip — the same flavor text the client will render. Cooking is regional. So is medicine. So is what you take with you before something serious.
